Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists that Andy Carroll should have been sent off during his side's draw at West Ham United on Wednesday.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that Andy Carroll should have been sent off during his side's draw at West Ham United on Wednesday.

The striker collided with United goalkeeper David de Gea in the first half of the 2-2 draw at Upton Park in the Premier League.

"It was a red card, there is not a doubt about that," Ferguson told BBC Sport.

"The referee did see it but didn't see it as a red card. He saw that incident and chose not to give him a red card."

Robin van Persie netted with 13 minutes to play as United came from behind twice to earn a share of the spoils.
