Guus Hiddink: 'Chelsea deserved draw against Manchester United'

Guus Hiddink believes that Chelsea did deserve to equalise in added time during Sunday's Premier League match against Manchester United.

Chelsea interim manager Guus Hiddink has said that the Blues did deserve to equalise late on in this evening's Premier League match against Manchester United.

United were on top for much of the game at Stamford Bridge, but Diego Costa found the net in the first minute of stoppage time to cancel out Jesse Lingard's pinpoint finish on the hour.

Speaking to Sky Sports News after the match, Hiddink, whose side are now unbeaten in 11 since he returned to West London, said: "I am happy with the reaction of the team. Manchester United did a good job in the first half and in the beginning of the second, they are not an easy team to beat.

"But we deserved a point. We dropped too far back after the first 20 minutes when they dominated us but later on we closed a little more. They made a beautiful goal - without good marking from our side - but after I think the team reacted very well."

Blues centre-back Kurt Zouma left the field on a stretcher in the second half after hyperextending his knee, but Hiddink would not comment on how severe the problem might be.

"Tomorrow we know more, but if you have this injury - and everyone has seen how bad it is - hyperextension is always bad," Hiddink added.

"I had this same problem once and it hurts. But let's hope and see tomorrow what the MRIs will show."

Although he is still unbeaten in charge, Hiddink's side have drawn six of their last eight league matches and the last four at home, the first time since 1987 that they have done so.
