Manchester United's Phil Jones admits that he would like to captain England one day.

Manchester United's Phil Jones has admitted that he would like to captain England one day.

The 19-year-old, who made his senior debut in last month's Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro, has been widely tipped to be a future skipper of the national team.

"It's nice to hear people talking about me being England captain one day," Jones told the club's official website. "But I need to keep my feet on the ground and firstly play well for Manchester United. If I do that, then I'll keep getting the chance to play for England.

"If I could captain England one day then I think that would be the pinnacle of my career."

Jones is expected to feature in United's Premier League fixture at Swansea City on Saturday.
