Jose Mourinho: 'Nice for Alexis Sanchez to win'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remarks that it was "nice for Alexis Sanchez to win a match" after their 2-0 home victory over Huddersfield Town.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has remarked that it was "nice for Alexis Sanchez to win a match" after the ex-Arsenal attacker scored in the side's 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

The Chilean claimed his first goal for United in what was a routine contest at Old Trafford, poking home the rebound past Jonas Lossl after missing from the spot in the second half.

The result saw United manage to keep hold of their grip on second spot in the league, although speaking to reporters after the game, Mourinho paid tribute to opposite number David Wagner for erecting "the Berlin wall" in the Terriers' defence.

"We always had control of the game, but at half time it was 0-0. I guess we had around 85% possession in the first half but it was not enough," he told reporters. "We kept doing the same in the second and even at 1-0 we were totally in control. Our defensive line as far from the danger areas.

"We had to be patient but had to keep the intensity high and the pressure. We had to break down the Berlin wall organised so well by David Wagner.

"It was nice for Alexis Sanchez to win a match, the first at home. Nice for him to play well and show the desire and happiness in playing football. That is most important. It was not the goal of his dreams, but it is a goal."

Next up for United is a trip to Newcastle United in the league next weekend.
