Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane has criticised Anthony Martial for missing a big chance during Sunday afternoon's Premier League clash with Liverpool.
The runaway league leaders secured all three points courtesy of goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, but United had an excellent opportunity to level in the second half when Martial broke into the home side's box.
The Frenchman could only fire over the crossbar, though, and Keane has claimed that the attacker's miss 'summed up his career' at Old Trafford.
"Martial has come to Man United and the big strikers score in the big moments, but his miss sums up his career at Man United. Excellent build-up play, but you have to hit the target. No excuses," Keane told Sky Sports News.
"The big strikers who are remembered by the supporters hit the target and the back of the net, and that's why that guy is not quite good enough for Man United. That moment summed him up."
Martial has scored 11 times in 24 appearances for the 20-time English champions this season, including eight goals in 17 Premier League outings.
In total, the 24-year-old has found the back of the net on 59 occasions in 198 appearances for the club since arriving from Ligue 1 side Monaco in the summer of 2015.
