Henrik Larsson: 'I regret leaving Manchester United'

Former Manchester United striker Henrik Larsson admits that leaving the club after just two months is the only regret of his career.

Former Manchester United striker Henrik Larsson has revealed that leaving the club after just two months is the only regret of his career.

Larsson joined the Red Devils on a two-month loan spell during his time with Swedish outfit Helsingborgs, scoring three goals in 13 appearances during the 2006-07 campaign.

United went on to win the Premier League title that season, in addition to reaching the FA Cup final, and Larsson admits that he wishes he had stayed for longer.

"That's the only regret I have in my career. I should have stayed, as it would have meant I got a Premier League winner's medal, and I would have stayed for one more season," he told FourFourTwo.

"But I still had a contract with Helsingborgs and I feel that when you sign a contract, you have to see it out.

"Everything was professional at Manchester United. When I had to attend a christening for my brother's children, the club ordered a plane to take me there after a match. United really take care of all their players."

Larsson's most notable spell came at Celtic, where he scored 242 goals in 313 appearances across all competitions.
