Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is "proud" to see his Manchester United side sit top of the Premier League table.
The Red Devils are a point clear of local rivals Manchester City at the summit following Saturday's 3-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford.
United top the table for the first time under Van Gaal and for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
"I am proud, of course," the United manager told Sky Sports News.
"I said to the security guy: 'You are now a security guy of a club that top of the league' and that makes a huge difference.
"Also for him. He is proud and I am proud. Last week it was the first time I was second. He was smiling."
United travel to Arsenal next Sunday.
