Louis van Gaal unhappy with resignation talk

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal blasts reporters for claiming that he has offered to resign as his side's head coach three times over the last couple of months.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has blasted reporters for claiming that he has offered to resign as the club's head coach this season.

It has been strongly suggested that the Dutchman has offered to step down on three separate occasions over the last month, but was talked into remaining at Old Trafford by vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Van Gaal, however, has said that he is "very concerned" that people are believing what they read in the media.

"I don't think I have ever mentioned it. I think you make your own stories. I think it is awful and horrible that you can write it," Van Gaal told reporters.

"I am very concerned that people are believing what you are writing. I receive a lot of calls and messages, but this is this world. You can write what you want and you do not have to verify anything. It is the third time that I have been sacked and I am still here."

Man United will travel to Derby County in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday.
