Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that Matteo Darmian will be unavailable for Friday's FA Cup fourth-round match against Derby County.
The Italian international was taken to hospital on Saturday after clashing with Southampton striker Shane Long during their Premier League meeting at Old Trafford.
It had been hoped that the right-back would be fit to face Derby on Friday, but Van Gaal has officially ruled the 26-year-old out of contention.
Phil Jones, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia and Marcos Rojo also remain on the sidelines for the Red Devils, leaving Van Gaal short of options at the back.
Paddy McNair is the favourite to start in place of Darmian, with Cameron Borthwick-Jackson expected to feature at left-back.
