Manchester United 'undergo reshuffle of backroom staff'

Mark Dempsey, a long-term assistant of Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, reportedly takes on a role with the club's academy setup.

Mark Dempsey has reportedly been provided with different responsibility behind the scenes at Manchester United, switching from being an assistant to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to taking on a role with the academy.

With United having endured a mixed three months since the beginning of the season, speculation persists regarding the long-term future of Solskjaer.

However, according to The Mirror, the first change in roles at Old Trafford involves Solskjaer's long-term aide Dempsey.

The 56-year-old had previously worked with the Norwegian at Cardiff City and Molde before joining the ex-forward at the Premier League giants.

Instead of continuing his position in the first-team dugout, Dempsey will now be involved within the academy setup at the North-West outfit.

The report suggests that Mike Phelan will now be regarded as Solskjaer's number two.
