Juan Mata: 'Southampton win was for Luke Shaw'

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata dedicates the 3-2 win at Southampton to stricken left-back Luke Shaw.

Juan Mata has dedicated Manchester United's 3-2 win at Southampton on Sunday to teammate and stricken left-back Luke Shaw.

The defender, 20, is expected to be out until May after suffering a horrific double leg break in last Tuesday's 2-1 Champions League defeat at PSV Eindhoven.

The England international has since returned home after undergoing two separate surgeries in the Netherlands, and Mata, who scored the decisive third at St Mary's, says that the victory was for Shaw.

"We are all very sorry for Luke," he told Sky Sports News. "Obviously what happened to him was very unlucky, but he knows we are all with him and this victory is for him."

Louis van Gaal's side sit second in the Premier League after six games played, two points behind Manchester City.
