Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hints at only minor tweaks to his squad during the summer window as he expects his current squad to evolve as players.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has suggested that he will not spend big over the summer as he expects his current squad to evolve as players.

United's league form this season has been the subject of much debate as Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions with five games to spare, but Mourinho has since said that he plans on tweaking his squad instead of investing heavily when the window opens.

"We are going to invest the basic to improve our squad," Mourinho told United's official website.

"There is always in the group of players, in the squad, there is always a player or a couple of players who are not playing a lot, and they will obviously try to leave, so we are going again to touch our squad and to believe that more than [a case of] spend, spend, spend, is probably the evolution of our players.

"We have some young players that need to get, with both hands, opportunities with their evolution, so let's see."

United will face Chelsea in the FA Cup final in May after beating Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium over the weekend.
