Nani: "I need to be at my best"

Manchester United winger Nani admits that he needs a strong season to convince David Moyes he deserves a new contract.

Manchester United winger Nani has admitted that he must find form this season in order to earn a new contract at Old Trafford.

Nani has less than two years left to run on his current deal with United, leading to persistent speculation over a summer switch to Monaco.

The Portuguese midfielder believes that strong performances will help persuade David Moyes to hand him a new contract, with his minimum target for the coming campaign to make sure United retain their Premier League title.

He told The Guardian: "I hope to win the league again and, for my personal wishes, I want to be at my best and score a lot of goals.

"Like I said, I just need to be at my best and then everything will come together."

The 26-year-old has been restricted to just two appearances during pre-season due to nasal surgery, with his return in last week's friendly against AIK Fotboll cut short by a groin injury.
