Phil Neville: 'Valencia not done deal yet'

Phil Neville denies that a deal has been finalised to become Valencia assistant manager.

Phil Neville has revealed that he has not yet agreed to become Valencia assistant manager, despite the Spanish club claiming that a deal had been finalised.

On Sunday afternoon, Los Che announced the appointment of the former Manchester United coach to Nuno Espirito Santo's backroom staff at the Mestalla.

However, Neville has told BBC Sport that negotiations are continuing with the La Liga outfit and that there is some way to go before an agreement will be reached.

Should Neville be appointed, he will replace Scot Ian Cathro, who is expected to join the coaching staff of new Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren.

The 38-year-old worked as a coach under David Moyes during his brief tenure at Manchester United in the 2013-14 season.
