Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba backs Cristiano Ronaldo to "raise the level" of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side following his return from Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been backed to "raise the level" of Manchester United by Paul Pogba.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was granted an early exit from the Portugal camp in order to link up with his United teammates following his shock move from Juventus over the summer.

Ronaldo could supposedly join his new teammates for training on Thursday after completing a self-isolation period, and Pogba is confident that the attacker will propel United into a new dimension.

Speaking to Telefoot, the France international said: "It's always a pleasure to play with the best; it's a plus for the players to be able to train with a great player. He's going to raise the level of the team."

Ronaldo rejoins Man United after becoming the highest international goalscorer in the history of the men's game last week, scoring his 110th and 111th goals for Portugal in a last-gasp 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over the Republic of Ireland.

The 36-year-old previously scored 118 goals in 292 appearances during his first spell at Man United, 84 of which came in the Premier League.
