Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has hailed the appointment of Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman was officially announced as the new boss at Old Trafford on Monday, and the Netherlands coach will take over once his World Cup duties with Oranje have finished.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the England international explained that he was delighted with the news of Van Gaal's imminent arrival.
He said: "Van Gaal is a great appointment. He's obviously got a great track record at other clubs. I'm sure he'll come in and do a great job for us.
"We've heard little things about him. Hopefully he can come in and get us back up the table.
"We have to improve on this season. Next year our aim is to win the Premier League title. This campaign was not good enough. We need to be fighting for that title."
Ryan Giggs ended his 24-year playing career on Monday and will become Van Gaal's assistant next season.
