Scholes: 'Wan-Bissaka is useless on the ball'

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes believes that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is "useless on the ball" following Saturday's derby defeat to Manchester City.

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has labelled Aaron Wan-Bissaka "useless on the ball" following his underwhelming display against Manchester City in Saturday's derby defeat.

The right-back was caught out of position as Phil Foden raced away down the left-hand side in the first half and also lost possession 12 times at Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka's attacking capabilities have been called into question on numerous occasions, and Scholes believes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's new three-at-the-back system is doing the former Crystal Palace man no favours.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Scholes said: "I said before the 3-5-2 doesn't suit the players in the team. Wan-Bissaka is useless on the ball - brilliant defender but useless on the ball at right-back.

"Three centre-halves today, none of them that good on the ball. Ole has got to find a way. There's a squad of players there that could be okay."

Wan-Bissaka has registered two goals and 10 assists in 114 games for the Red Devils, who remain fifth in the Premier League table despite Saturday's dampening loss.
