Chris Smalling understands supporter frustration

Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling says that he understands the supporters' frustrations following Saturday's goalless draw against West Ham United.

Manchester United centre-back Chris Smalling has said that the club's supporters "are right to show their frustration" following Saturday's goalless draw at home to West Ham United.

Man United's lack of goals this season has led to strong criticism of head coach Louis van Gaal, with "attack, attack, attack" a well-known chant with the club's supporters this term.

Smalling has claimed that he understands the frustration of the fans, but has insisted that they are still in a strong position in the league.

"The fans are right to show their frustration. We [the players] are just as frustrated," Smalling told MUTV.

"Everyone is down because it's an opportunity missed. It's so disappointing when you dominate a game. We're in a good position in the league, but it could have been boosted."

Man United currently sit fourth in the Premier League, but they are just three points off the top of the table.
