Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that his club are yet to finalise a deal for French defender Raphael Varane.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that his club are yet to finalise a deal for Raphael Varane, meaning that the centre-back will not be involved against Leeds United on Saturday.

A deal for the France international was agreed with Real Madrid at the end of July, but the 20-time English champions are yet to announce the World Cup winner's arrival.

Solskjaer, speaking during Friday's pre-match press conference, has said that Varane is not yet officially a Man United player, and he will therefore be unavailable for the team's 2021-22 opener against Leeds.

"He hasn't trained with us. Things take time. Not 100% done yet. He won't be involved because he has not trained with us. The big hold up was the quarantine and the isolation - it will be done soon," the Man United boss told reporters, via the Manchester Evening News.

The 28-year-old had to quarantine upon his arrival in England, but it is understood that he has already undergone his medical and penned personal terms.

A recent report claimed that the deal, which could end up costing the Red Devils in the region of £42m, had been held up due to image rights.
