Louis van Gaal remains positive despite Chelsea defeat

Louis van Gaal insists that Manchester United produced their best performance of the season in their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal praised his side for their "best performance of the season' after their 1-0 defeat away at Chelsea.

Eden Hazard scored the decisive goal in the 38th minute, and the result means that Chelsea are just two wins away from winning the Premier League title.

However, Van Gaal was impressed with his side and has refused to rule them out of the title race.

He told BBC Sport: "In my opinion it was the best performance we have had this season. We were not effective because we have created, despite the defensive organisation of Chelsea, three chances in the first half and eight in the second half.

"That is unbelievably good. We were the dominant team on the pitch but we lose. Everything is the result.

"Everybody can have his own opinion and the winner takes it all. It's a song, but it's like that. The title is not definitely gone because we can still win 15 points."

United next face Everton at Goodison Park.
