Manchester United's Nemanja Vidic: 'Chelsea win can boost title chances'

Nemanja Vidic believes that Manchester United's chances of retaining the Premier League title will increase if they beat Chelsea on Sunday.

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has said that victory over Chelsea on Sunday will see them return to the race for the Premier League title.

The Red Devils will head into the clash at Stamford Bridge 14 points off the pace in seventh, while Jose Mourinho's Chelsea are five points behind leaders Arsenal in third.

"It's hard to say," he told MUTV when asked about what United can achieve between now and the end of the season. "My view is that the results in the next six or seven matches will tell us what our aim is for the rest of the season.

"The next game is Chelsea away - a tough match, but if we win we'll only be six points behind Chelsea. That still gives us a chance to think about maybe winning the title.

"I know, at the moment, it maybe doesn't sound right to think that way [when you look at the table], but we still hope that with a few wins in a row we can still challenge and from there we can see what our position is."

United's city rivals Manchester City are currently second in the league table.
