Jobi McAnuff thinks Sir Alex Ferguson is "out of order"

Reading captain Jobi McAnuff thinks that Sir Alex Ferguson has no right to criticise Jason Roberts or Rio Ferdinand for their decision not to support the 'Kick It Out' campaign this weekend.

Reading winger Jobi McAnuff has criticised Sir Alex Ferguson and insisted that he should not pass judgement on a player's personal decision concerning racism in football.

Ferguson slammed Rio Ferdinand for failing to wear a 'Kick It Out' T-shirt before Manchester United's match against Stoke City on Saturday.

The United boss also condemned McAnuff's Reading teammate Jason Roberts for taking the same stance at Anfield this weekend.

"I respect Jason's decision, that is his prerogative," McAnuff told The Sun. "It's not anyone else's position to say if players should or shouldn't wear it, or that it's an embarrassment.

"When you've got other managers getting involved, you just think if they took the time to sit down with Jason and have a chat, he's got an inside track on that.

"So for people that don't know the inside and the background, it was out of order to comment."

Roberts and Ferdinand were among a number of high-profile players who decided against wearing a 'Kick It Out' T-Shirt, including Rio's brother Anton Ferdinand, Joleon Lescott and Micah Richards.
