PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor condemns Liverpool fans' treatment of Patrice Evra.

PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor has slammed Liverpool fans for booing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

Sections of the Anfield crowd booed Evra in the 2-1 win over Manchester United, after his claim of racist abuse against Luis Suarez led to an eight-match ban for the striker.

Taylor said that he is disappointed with the behaviour of some supporters, suggesting it could leave players unwilling to speak out in the future as they will not want similar treatment. The 68-year-old believes that it could hinder any hope of eradicating the issue of racism from the British game.

"The booing of Evra was unwelcome. For someone to be booed for reporting racist comments is not something we want to see happening," Taylor told Sky Sports News.

"Black players may be worried about reporting such things, if there is going to be a backlash like this.

"The game must do all it can to eradicate it."
