AC Milan may reportedly sack Genaro Gattuso and turn to former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger in the next fortnight.

Arsene Wenger is leading former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho in the race to become AC Milan's next manager, according to a report.

The Rossoneri are believed to be close to parting company with Gennaro Gattuso, who has gone four matches without a win.

Mourinho has been touted as a possible target for Milan, having lost his job at United earlier this week, but Tuttomercato claims that Wenger is higher up the list of potential candidates.

Wenger has been out of work since leaving Arsenal at the end of last season, bringing an end to his 22-year stint in North London.

Milan are currently fifth in Serie A, one point adrift of Lazio in fourth, and face Frosinone and SPAL in their next two outings.

The report claims that anything less than six points from six will see Gattuso lose his job.
