Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham insists that retiring Old Trafford manager Sir Alex Ferguson has made the greatest ever impact at the club.

David Beckham has praised retiring Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson for the impact that he has had on everyone involved at Old Trafford.

Ferguson announced earlier on Wednesday that he will end his 26-year spell in charge of the club at the end of the season, and former United midfielder Beckham has insisted that he will have left a long-standing legacy at the Premier League champions.

The 38-year-old told Sky Sports News: "Without talking about the success that he has had, the impact that he has with the team, players and fans, I don't think anyone has had an impact like that in football, ever."

The former England captain played under Ferguson for 10 years until he left the club for Real Madrid in 2003.
