Carlo Ancelotti will make Wayne Rooney his first signing as Real Madrid manager if he replaces Jose Mourinho at the end of the season.

Carlo Ancelotti will reportedly make Wayne Rooney his top transfer target if takes over as Real Madrid boss this summer.

The Italian's future at Paris Saint-Germain is in doubt despite him guiding them to their first Ligue 1 title success since 1994.

Madrid want Ancelotti to replace Jose Mourinho when he leaves the club at the end of the season, and the Italian is keen to make Rooney his first signing if his mooted £25m move to Spain comes off, reports The People.

Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that Rooney handed in a transfer request to leave the Red Devils before the end of the season.
