Manchester United striker Anthony Martial reportedly rejects the chance to re-sign for Lyon on loan during deadline day.

Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial has reportedly rejected the chance to return to Lyon on deadline day.

The France international rose through the youth ranks at Lyon before leaving for Monaco in 2013, where he spent two years before arriving at Old Trafford.

However, Martial's opportunities will be restricted with the re-signing of Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this week, and he is supposedly pushing for an exit before Tuesday's 11pm deadline.

According to L'Equipe, Lyon identified former youth product Martial as an ideal signing for the left-wing position, but the Man United man turned down the opportunity to return to his homeland on loan.

The report adds that Willian was also on Les Gones' radar before he decided to return to Corinthians following his Arsenal exit, and as a result the club are not expected to do any more business before the window closes.

Martial has started one of United's three Premier League games so far in the 2021-22 season and boasts 78 goals and 50 assists from 261 games for the club.
