Arsenal reportedly offer £20m for Wayne Rooney, sparking an imminent bidding war with Chelsea.

Arsenal have reportedly made a £20m bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Having been linked with the England international over the past few weeks, the Gunners have now made their interest concrete.

According to The Mirror, Arsenal's opening offer will spark a bidding war between them and Chelsea.

New Blues boss Jose Mourinho has apparently made Rooney his number one target and will outbid any offer from Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.

All of this comes despite the fact that United continue to insist that the 27-year-old will be staying at Old Trafford.

Rooney and new United boss David Moyes will plan a meeting soon to discuss his future.
