Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov says that Wayne Rooney moving to the Emirates this summer would be a "big success".

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov has claimed that Wayne Rooney would benefit from a move to the Emirates this summer.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford after asking to leave the Premier League champions twice in three years.

While the striker himself has been quiet on his future, it has been widely reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is interested in poaching the forward.

"Rooney is a great player," Usmanov told American television channel CNBC. "If he comes it would be a big success for Arsenal and for Rooney also."

Usmanov holds a 29.9% share in the North London outfit.
