Chelsea, Christian Pulisic 'would prefer permanent transfer'

Chelsea and Christian Pulisic would each reportedly prefer a permanent parting of the ways in January should a transfer become a possibility.

Christian Pulisic reportedly has little interest in a loan move away from Chelsea during the January transfer window.

Having not been a regular starter for the Blues over the past 18 months, the winger's long-term future has been a constant topic for debate.

That especially rings true right now with the United States international having just over 19 months remaining on his contract and currently impressing for his country at the World Cup.

In sharp contrast at Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old has been inconsistent and made just five starts and 13 substitute outings during 2022-23.

The former Borussia Dortmund man is naturally attracting interest from elsewhere at a time when Chelsea are open to parting ways with the attacker.

A recent report has claimed that Juventus and Inter Milan are both monitoring the situation ahead of putting forward a proposal in January.

However, according to the Daily Mail, they will significantly increase their chances of getting a deal over the line if they offer Pulisic a permanent route out of Chelsea.

The report claims that both parties are against a temporary exit at the midway point of the season, hinting that they each want clarity moving forward.

Furthermore, it is indicated that there have been no discussions regarding a potential renewal with an exit potentially only a matter of time.

Nevertheless, it appears that Chelsea and Pulisic may continue their partnership if a suitable permanent offer is not made at the turn of the year.

Should Pulisic stay in West London, he will still receive a certain level of game time under Graham Potter, with eight outings coming in the final three-and-a-half weeks before the World Cup.

However, Pulisic provided just one assist from 353 minutes of football during that time, while also failing to take numerous chances of his own in the final third.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United are all said to hold varying levels of interest in Pulisic and may consider making a bid in 2023.

Chelsea teammate Hakim Ziyech has also been linked with a move away from the Premier League giants in January with AC Milan said to be monitoring the situation.
