Fabio Coentrao: Manchester United move "would be an honour"

Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao says that it "would be an honour" to play for a club like Manchester United.

Fabio Coentrao has responded positively to speculation that has linked him with a move to Manchester United.

A report in Spain earlier today claimed that United boss Louis van Gaal is eager to recruit the Portuguese international from Real Madrid to provide competition for injury-prone left-back Luke Shaw.

When asked for his reaction to the rumours by O Jogo, the 27-year-old said: "I already showed that interest in playing [for Manchester United].

"It's one of the best clubs in the world, a club that I admire a lot. It would be an honour to play there."

The Red Devils were thought to have tried to sign the defender in 2013, but the deal could not be concluded before the summer deadline passed.
