Antonio Conte 'clashes with Inter Milan chiefs over Romelu Lukaku deal'

Antonio Conte is reportedly fuming with Inter Milan's hierarchy for their failure to secure the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.

Antonio Conte has reportedly expressed his anger at Inter Milan's failure to complete the transfer of Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United before the club embarked on their pre-season tour this week.

The Italian, who attempted to sign Lukaku as Chelsea manager in 2017, has made it clear that signing the striker was a priority for his first summer in charge at the San Siro.

United have taken a firm stance in negotiations, insisting they would only sell Lukaku if they made a profit on the £75m they paid for him two years ago.

According to The Mirror, Conte has been left fuming by Inter's inability to land Lukaku's signature prior to the club's pre-season tour of Asia.

Conte has not included striker Mauro Icardi on the trip after confirming that the Argentine was not part of his plans going forward, leaving the Italian light on options up front.

Inter's latest offer to United for Lukaku is thought to total £62.8m, with the Italian club proposing an elongated payment schedule whereby they pay £8.9m this summer for a loan deal with an obligation to buy, before paying United two installments of £26.9m in 2020 and 2021.
