Fenerbahce: 'Robin van Persie deal is done'

Fenerbahce chairman Aziz Yildirim reveals that the Turkish club have signed Robin van Persie from Manchester United.

Fenerbahce have revealed that they have completed the signing of striker Robin van Persie from Manchester United.

The Netherlands hitman, 31, reportedly underwent a medical with the Turkish giants on Thursday ahead of a £4.5m move.

"We worked very hard, until midnight. We received five faxes, sent six faxes and finally it was finished," chairman Aziz Yildirim told Hurriyet.

"The Van Persie transfer is done and one more star has joined the Fenerbahce constellation."

The former Arsenal man endured a trying final season at Old Trafford, netting 10 Premier League goals after struggling for appearances toward the end of the campaign.

Van Persie joined the Red Devils from the Gunners for £16m in August 2012, before firing United to Premier League glory in his first season with the club.
