Leicester City have reportedly moved ahead of Aston Villa and Manchester United in their pursuit of Dundee United teenager Kerr Smith.
Smith made five appearances in the Scottish Premiership last season, after making his debut for Dundee United against Rangers in February at the age of just 16.
The young centre-back spent time on trial at Villa last year and also had a spell training with Man United, before returning to Scotland to sign his first professional contract with Dundee United.
According to The Sun, the Foxes have met Dundee United's asking price of £500,000 for the youngster, who had a release clause in his new deal with the Scottish club.
It is now believed that Dundee United will not get in the way of a move for Smith, and it is entirely up to the youngster as to where he wants his future to lie.
Leicester have been busy in the market when it comes to signing youngsters, having already agreed a deal for Liverpool's 16-year-old Jack Lewis.
