Liverpool 'eyeing up Franck Kessie swoop'

Liverpool are reportedly the latest team to enter the race for in-demand youngster Franck Kessie from Atalanta BC.

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Franck Kessie from Atalanta BC.

The 19-year-old has been in fine form so far this season, scoring five goals in Serie A to help Atalanta to sixth place in the table.

A number of Europe's top clubs are understood to have been alerted by his performances, with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona and Juventus all rumoured to be monitoring the youngster.

Kessie has already won 10 caps for the Ivory Coast and is regarded by some as the long-term successor to Yaya Toure in the national team's midfield.

Atalanta are reportedly unwilling to sell the teenager, but could be enticed by a bid of around £22.5m in January.
