Liverpool join Manchester United in race to sign French teen?

Liverpool reportedly plan to rival Manchester United in their pursuit of Lyon youngster Rayan Cherki next summer.

Liverpool will reportedly rival Manchester United in their pursuit of Lyon youngster Rayan Cherki.

Despite being just 16 years old, the forward has already featured for Lyon's senior side in Ligue 1 and the Champions League, making his first-team debut during a 0-0 draw with Dijon in October.

The youngster also featured during Lyon's recent meeting with Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia last week.

According to 90min, Liverpool have placed emphasis on securing the player's signature next year.

However, the Premier League leaders are reportedly set to face competition from both United and Real Madrid for Cherki.

Despite recently signing a new deal at the club until 2022, club president Jean-Michel Aulas understands that he will be powerless over the player leaving if the right offer arrives - possibly even in January.
