David Luiz says that he would like to see Wayne Rooney join Chelsea in the summer.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has admitted that he would be happy to see Wayne Rooney move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Sunday that the England international has handed in a transfer request at the club, which has led to growing speculation of interest from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the Brazilian has insisted that he would be happy for the Blues to keep Rooney in the Premier League.

"Everyone knows about his quality, so if he wants to come to Chelsea why not? I'd be happy with it," said Luiz in The Sun.

Rooney did not feature in the United squad for their win over Swansea City at the weekend.
