Manchester City reportedly submit a fresh offer for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Manchester City have reportedly submitted an improved bid for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Matheus Nunes.

With Kevin De Bruyne currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, the Citizens are determined to bolster their midfield options in the coming days.

The Premier League champions have identified Nunes as a top target, and are pushing to secure his services before Friday's transfer deadline.

City recently submitted an initial £47m offer for the Portugal international, which was swiftly rejected by Wolves.

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil has admitted that the club received an offer from an unnamed club, but the proposal did not meet Wolves' valuation.

Despite seeing their opening bid turned down, Man City are not willing to give up their pursuit, and they have now returned with a fresh offer.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man City have submitted an improved bid for Nunes worth around €60m (£51.4m) with add-ons.

The update indicates that the European champions are hopeful their latest offer will be enough to get the deal over the line.

Should Wolves decide to accept the proposal, it would represent a record sale for the club, surpassing the £47m that they received from the sale of Ruben Neves to Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

Nunes is under contract with Wolves until the summer of 2027 with an option for a further year, which puts the club in a strong negotiating position.

While they may be under no pressure to sell, they could be tempted to sanction a departure due to their ongoing concerns over Financial Fair Play.

The 25-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Man City and is seemingly keen to complete a move to the Etihad Stadium.

Nunes, who joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon last summer, has registered one goal and one assist during 41 appearances for the Midlands club.

The Portuguese midfielder featured in the club's opening two games of the new season, but he was suspended for Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton after being sent off in the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.
