Manchester United have reportedly made an improved offer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
United have been strongly linked with a swoop for the 24-year-old in recent weeks, although it is thought that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are also in the race for the Portugal international.
According to Journal de Notices, the Red Devils have now submitted a bid of £58m with another £13.3m in performance-based add-ons.
Fernandes scored 32 times and registered 18 assists in 53 appearances for Sporting last term.
The attacking midfielder also helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League title courtesy of a 1-0 win over the Netherlands in last weekend's final.
Former United boss Jose Mourinho recently paid tribute to the quality of his fellow countryman.
