Manchester United are reportedly keen on securing the signing of Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho during the January transfer window.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho as a surprise January target.

Coutinho left United's fierce rivals Liverpool 12 months ago, and the Brazilian has gone on to score 15 times from 45 appearances in all competitions.

However, the playmaker has recently found himself out of the team, and according to Caught Offside, that has resulted in interest from United.

The report suggests that the Premier League giants have already made contact with Barcelona, who would likely demand more than £100m if they are to consider a sale.

Coutinho has a long-term contract at Camp Nou and it is unlikely that the 26-year-old would consider a stunning transfer to Old Trafford, but it appears that United are keen to strengthen in the final third.
