Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho to get pay rise?

Sporting Lisbon could reportedly increase William Carvalho's salary from just over £4,000 a month to £41,000 a month to fend off interest from Manchester United.

Sporting Lisbon could increase William Carvalho's salary by 900% in order to retain his services for next season, according to a report.

The Daily Mail claims that the Portuguese giants are ready to offer €50,000 (£41,200) per month to the 21-year-old midfielder in an effort to fend off interest from Manchester United and Barcelona.

Carvalho reportedly earns €5000 (£4,100) per month at the moment, and with both United and Barca said to be keen on a summer bid, Sporting are trying to tie down the Portugal international until the 2014-15 season at least.

Carvalho's current contract with Sporting runs out in June 2018.
