A report claims that Alexis Sanchez may be released by Manchester United as the Premier League side want his £505,000-a-week wages off their books.

Manchester United are reportedly so desperate to get rid of Alexis Sanchez that they are prepared to offload the Chilean forward on a free contract.

Sanchez has been a major flop during his 16 months at Old Trafford, managing just five goals in 45 appearances.

The former Arsenal ace is the highest-earning player in the Premier League on £505,000 a week, which is putting off interested clubs from making an offer.

According to The Times, that may not be a problem any longer as United are now willing to release Sanchez if it means getting his wages off their books for good.

Inter Milan are rumoured to be monitoring the situation, while Juventus have also been credited with an interest of late.
