Manchester United to swoop for Jose Gaya in January?

Manchester United could move for Valencia defender Jose Gaya in January, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a January move for Valencia defender Jose Gaya.

The 24-year-old, who is a five-time Spain international, has made 205 appearances for Los Che since debuting for the club during the 2011-12 campaign.

The defender only signed a new long-term deal at the Mestalla last summer, but there is currently speculation surrounding his future with Chelsea recently mentioned as possible suitors.

United are allegedly monitoring the performances of Valencia trio Gaya, Carlos Soler and Ferran Torres ahead of the January transfer window, but according to Deporte Valenciano, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are expected to prioritise a move for the former at the start of 2020.

Luke Shaw's injury problems mean that Ashley Young has had to take on a key role for the Red Devils once again this season, although academy product Brandon Williams has emerged as an option for the left-back position.

The 20-time English champions will attempt to bounce back from last weekend's 1-0 loss at Bournemouth when they resume their Premier League season at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.
