Manchester United 'told Philippe Coutinho price'

Barcelona allegedly inform Manchester United that it will cost 'at least €100m (£88.48m)' for the club to consider the sale of Philippe Coutinho.

Manchester United have allegedly been informed that it will take 'at least €100m (£88.48m)' to sign Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

Reports emerged earlier this month that United had registered an interest in Coutinho, who has fallen out of favour under manager Ernesto Valverde at Camp Nou.

However, journalist Daniel Amoyal - writing for ESPN - has suggested that there is little chance of any transfer taking place during the January window.

Amoyal said: "After falling behind Ousmane Dembele in coach Ernesto Valverde's pecking order, Coutinho is reportedly unhappy with the reduced playing time.

"This situation seems to be of great interest to Manchester United , who reportedly already sent out feelers to assess the feasibility of a deal and to make their interest manifest to the player's agents.

"However, a deal looks rather unlikely in January, since the Blaugrana would want more than €100 million to even consider the departure of the crown jewel of their transfer campaign last winter."

Coutinho has started Barcelona's last two games in all competitions, but had previously been limited to just two starts between December 2 and January 6.
