Neymar's father has revealed that Manchester United made a £144m bid for the Barcelona attacker during the last summer transfer window.
Louis van Gaal's side were linked to a number of audacious bids before the current season began, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Thomas Muller tipped for a move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils eventually spent more than £108m on new players, but Neymar Snr claims that they were willing to eclipse that on one player when they attempted to trigger the Brazilian's release clause.
"Manchester United is the side that offered €190m (£144m) for Neymar. He has still two years left on his contract but you all can be calm as my son is so happy here," he told COPE.
Neymar has gone on to score 21 goals in 27 appearances for Barcelona so far this season, finishing third in the voting for the 2015 Ballon d'Or.
