Michael Owen "open" to Southampton move?

Michael Owen has hinted that he would be prepared to join Southampton this summer.

The former England international will be a free agent in July after being told by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that his contract at Old Trafford was not going to be renewed.

Saints legend Matt Le Tissier made contact with Owen on Twitter, saying: "Maybe the warmer south coast should be your next ­destination mate, better for your muscles."

In reply, Owen said: "Open to offers!!!"

Southampton will play in the Premier League next season following their promotion from the Championship.
