Manchester United's incoming minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe will allegedly be consulted on any January transfer business that the club undertake.

Manchester United's incoming minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe will reportedly be consulted on any business that the club are intending to do during the January transfer window.

Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag has said on more than one occasion that the club are unlikely to be busy during the winter market, but it is understood that business could take place.

There will be at least one outgoing, with Donny van de Beek set to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, while Jadon Sancho is almost certain to leave due to his falling-out with Ten Hag.

Rasmus Hojlund scored his first Premier League goal on Tuesday, hitting the winner against Aston Villa, but the club are short of attacking options, with Anthony Martial also said to be available in January.

A recent report claimed that Bologna's Joshua Zirkzee had emerged as a low-cost option in January, with the club open to bringing in support for Hojlund, who has six goals to his name this term.

Ratcliffe's deal to purchase 25% of Man United was confirmed on Christmas Eve, but it has not yet been ratified by the Premier League, which is unlikely to be before the end of the January transfer window.

According to The Times, according to details published by the New York Stock Exchange, during the process, which is likely to take between four to six weeks, Ratcliffe and his INEOS company will have to be consulted on any transfer decision.

The report claims that head coach Ten Hag wants to strengthen his squad in January despite recently insisting that the team will be boosted by the return of players currently on the treatment table.

There had been contrasting reports on how much influence Ratcliffe would have in January, but any transfer will seemingly have to be signed off by the British billionaire.

Man United, who beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Boxing Day, will be bidding to make it successive wins in the Premier League when they head to Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

The club will then take on Wigan Athletic in their first match of 2024, but they will play just once more in January, heading to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League in the middle of the month.

Man United's injury situation will ease in January, with Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire all expected back.

Luke Shaw and Sofyan Amrabat were both missing against Villa on Tuesday, but neither issue is believed to be serious, with the pair potentially available for the trip to Forest.

Amad Diallo was also close to being involved against Villa, and the Ivory Coast international is also set to boost the Red Devils squad next month.
