Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that Gunners manager Arsene Wenger sent chief scout Steve Rowley to watch the 20-year-old in action during his side's 4-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
It has been reported that the Germany international centre-back is part of Wenger's long-term plans but may have to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench in the initial stages.
Manchester United boss David Moyes is also said to be keen on Ginter and reportedly went to Germany last month to watch him in action against Hertha Berlin.
Ginter's current contract with Freiburg runs until June 2017.
