David de Gea has reportedly given consideration to the possibility of handing in a transfer request at Manchester United in a bid to force through a move to Real Madrid.
The goalkeeper has been heavily linked with Los Blancos for much of the summer, but as yet the two clubs have been unable to agree a financial package.
It has been claimed that United have informed their Spanish counterparts that they will only accept a world-record offer for a keeper and if that is not received, the 24-year-old will remain at Old Trafford for the final 12 months of his contract.
However, according to El Confidencial, De Gea may now make his desire to leave United official in the hope that a deal can then be struck.
De Gea has not played in either of United's two Premier League games this season, with manager Louis van Gaal having claimed that he had asked not to be included in the starting lineup.
