Report: Manchester United to bid £50m for Harry Kane in January

Manchester United are ready to offer £50m for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in January, according to a report.

Manchester United are preparing a bid of £50m for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in January as they look for a solution to their goal struggles, according to a report.

United failed to score for the seventh time this season as they were held to a 0-0 draw by West Ham United at Old Trafford on Saturday, a reuslt which leaves them fourth in the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Kane has scored nine goals in his last eight matches in all competitions after a slow start to the season, to follow his 31 goals in all competitions last season which saw him named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

According to the Daily Star, Louis van Gaal's United are looking at Kane as a primary target for the January transfer window and they are gearing up to offer £50m for the England striker's services.

However, the report claims that even that sum may not be enough to tempt Spurs chairman Daniel Levy into considering the sale of one of the club's prized assets.

The paper goes on to allege that United see Kane as a more realistic target than Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski or either of Real Madrid pair Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale, but that they are also tracking Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy and Southampton winger Sadio Mane.
